About the Event

Through a partnership with some higher education institutions in Portugal, TOPUS promotes this event yearly. In odd years, it takes place in Brazil (with a change of venue in each new edition) and in even years in Portugal (always in the city of Viseu, located in the central region of the country). To date, the event has been hosted by  Universities or Polytechnic located in the cities listed below:

 

• 2013 - Uberaba-MG | Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro - UFTM

• 2014 - Viseu | Polytechnic Institute of Viseu / School of Education of Viseu

• 2015 - Brasília-DF | University of Brasilia - UnB

• 2016 - Viseu | Polytechnic Institute of Viseu / School of Education of Viseu

• 2017 - Rio de Janeiro-RJ | Pedro II School

• 2018 - Viseu | Polytechnic Institute of Viseu / School of Education of Viseu

• 2019 - Teresina-PI | Federal University of Piauí / State University of Piauí / State University of Maranhão

 

It is believed, by TOPUS members that, when held in Brazil, a Portuguese writer should be honored. On the other hand, when held in Portugal, the event should pay tribute to a Brazilian writer. This strategy was designed with a view to strengthen the cultural interactions between the two nations. In response to the pandemic situation affecting the world and isolation policies, this edition of JOEEL will be entirely electronical.

Programme

In addition to the Oral Communication Sections, the event will feature round tables in which TOPUS members will present, reflect upon and discuss the research they have undertaken.   The complete program of the event will be announced in due time.
